Because of its strong and agressive roots, the Silver Maple is not so much planted in the cities anymore. Above all, it's important to plant this tree away from home and all underground infrastructure. The rivers edge is its preferred habitat and its powerful roots contribute to make this tree a first choice in erosion control and soil stabilization.

Its autumnal colors, its peeling bark in several strips, as well as its overall shape make it a very interesting ornemental tree. In addition, it's one of the first Quebec native trees to adorn itself with flowers in spring. The fruits which are samaras are also produced during the same season.
